MANAGER

Hello Lake Pleasant Campers,

Well I hope that all of you are having a wonderful winter but yet are just itching to get back to the campground. I have been to the campground a couple of times and report that we are looking good. We did have a tree come down on power lines and knock out power for a week or so but it is repaired. Richard says we have about 4ft of snow as of last weekend.

As in previous years we are planning to have a spring work party. I need not mention to you seasoned campers that this work period is our biggest of the year where personnel and equipment from 14 Wing and the club work as a team to either spruce up or tend to much required repairs. To all you new campers this is a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know your fellow campers. I’ve had people who camped here for several years and not know that the person you are working with has camped here for several years as well. You can also experience first hand what is required to make this wonderful campground of ours work. Because of work parties like this we have had minimal adjustments in the seasonal rates but yet enjoy all the benefits of our haven away from home, just ask our friends who camp elsewhere what they pay for a season!

This work period will be run from the 26th of April until noon on the 7th of May with a break on the weekend. Last year we tried something new and organized a weekend work schedule for those who were not able to make it during the weeks but wished to contribute. This will be available again this year; dates are 30 Apr to 2nd May. This will be totally separate from the volunteers for the main work party. Please be aware that if you choose to volunteer your time during the weekend that the kitchen will be closed and no meals served. We will however look into making available coffee and tea and possible nibbles. Additional information or clarification will be given during the Spring meeting on the 11th of April.

So to get to the point we are looking to see how many people we have for this work period and to what extent you can contribute. The reason for this of course is to better prepare the specific work parties for the main weeks and the separate one for the weekend. We need numbers for food purchase as well. Ray and Linda have graciously volunteered to do this once again this year. The campground pays for this food and we wish not to waste if necessary.

I will follow up with a proposed list of work to be completed once we determine the cost and priorities and the number of contributing campers.

As of this date the schedule has the following items:

Roof Shingled on Smiley Rd washroom;

Playground drain verified and filled in

New Outhouse Building for Lodge area; Verify holding tank

Rental Cabins cleaning and setup

Fire pit built for rental cabin 1

LPCC Rental Cabin interior to be spruced up

New Playground swing seats and sea horse to be installed

Electrical for new sites

Ditches dug or revamped for better drainage

Repair winter damage if required.

Fitness/ walking/bike trail continued

Windfall cleaned up

Horseshoe pits revamped

Roads graded.

Electrical on existing sites checked.

Attach barrels to rental boat dock.

If anyone wishes to suggest something to be looked at or done during this work period please relay those ideas to me when you reply to this email. I will respond to each suggestion and only to the individuals who suggest them. Confirmed ideas will be on work party list and announced at meeting.

So if you can, please consider volunteering for this is a very rewarding experience and in some cases this gets you away from the everyday grind to enjoy the fresh air and camaraderie that brings Lake Pleasant together as a family.

Whether you are able to contribute a week or two or a couple of days, each are welcome. Any time dedicated is greatly appreciated. Some have in the past gathered those buddies and friends; those in refits, on break or what ever to assist us, all are welcome. Donations and food always welcome.

Lets’ keep our Lake Pleasant the place to be.

Please respond to the e-mail sent by Marsha soonest. If you did not get the e-mail then reply to the manager soonest.

NameDates you are able to attend
